Policy Statement on Equal Opportunities and Code of Conduct

In the context of corporate social responsibility Berenschot has chosen to observe the Code of Conduct that this requires.

The Code of Conduct set out below provides a brief description of the basic requirements that we and our suppliers of goods and services must meet in terms of our responsibility towards stakeholders and the environment.

Berenschot Groep and Berenschot B.V reserve the right to amend this Code of Conduct when reasonably required. Berenschot will act as described and expects its partners, suppliers and all others with whom it works or does business to do the same:

Compliance with the law

  • To act in accordance with the laws of the applicable legal system(s).

Ban on corruption related to bribery

  • Neither to tolerate nor engage in any form of corruption or bribery, including through payment to a public official, or any other form of special treatment, for the purpose of influencing decision-making, by breaking the law.

Respect for the basic and inclusive human rights of all employees

  • To promote equal opportunities for all employees, regardless of colour, ethnicity, nationality, social background, disability or chronic disorder, sexual orientation, political or religious beliefs, gender or age.
  • To encourage diversity in the workforce.
  • To respect the personal dignity, integrity, privacy and rights of every individual.
  • Never to employ people or put them to work against their will.
  • Never to tolerate the unacceptable treatment of employees, such as mental cruelty, sexual harassment or discrimination.
  • To prohibit sexual innuendo or harassment involving threats or coercion, intimidation, abuse or exploitation, including through gestures, use of language or physical contact.
  • To offer fair pay and ensure compliance with the rules governing the statutory minimum wage, as laid down in the applicable legislation.
  • To recognise the right of workers to freedom of peaceful assembly and association to the extent permitted by law, and neither to favour nor discriminate against members of employee organisations or trade unions.
  • To ensure the inclusion of target groups from different backgrounds with a labour market disadvantage who seek employment.

Ban on child labour

  • To employ no one under the age of 15 - or, in developing countries covered by the exemption under ILO Convention 138, under the age of 14.

Health and safety of employees

  • To take responsibility for the health and safety of all personnel.
  • To manage risks and take the best possible precautionary measures in connection with accidents and occupational disease.
  • To offer training and ensure that the workforce is instructed in matters related to health and safety.
  • To set up or introduce an acceptable management system in the area of health and safety.
  • To pursue an Inclusiveness & Diversity personnel policy covering all employees.

Environmental protection

  • To act in accordance with the applicable statutory and international standards in the area of environmental protection.
  • To minimise environmental pollution and continually aim to improve environmental protection.
  • To set up or introduce an acceptable environmental management system.
  • To work closely with the chain/partners/MVO Nederland to achieve impact together.

Inclusion and Society

Berenschot Inclusive:

  • Committed to helping young people with a support issue (e.g. disability, chronic disease, with refugee status, etc.) to find employment.
  • Committed to providing support in society for non-native speakers with language and cultural support needs.
  • Committed to supporting job-seekers with a work disability or chronic disorder and who have a labour market disadvantage.

Supply chain

  • Make every effort to encourage our suppliers, network and associated partners to comply with this Code of Conduct.
  • To observe the principles of non-discrimination and equal opportunities in the selection and treatment of our suppliers and network of associated partners.
  • Where possible, to undertake procurement in a way which is socially and environmentally responsible.
  • To comply with SROI (social return on investment) agreements based on inclusiveness and in accordance with our intrinsic strategic decisions.
