The Brexit hurricane has hit Europe over the past months. As long as the British parliament does not agree with the withdrawal agreement, the danger of a no-deal Brexit - and the adverse consequences of this - is not over. In this fascinating process, Berenschot, together with involved ministries and implementing bodies, investigated the existing inventory of possible effects of a no-deal, including measures to manage this.
Digitisation, innovation and the labour market form the most important strategic themes in Dutch boardrooms. These are just a few important outcomes of the 2019 Berenschot Strategy Trends survey, the eleventh edition of the strategic survey by Berenschot advice agency in which 750 organisations took part this time.
Commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure & Water Management (I&W), Berenschot investigated the effectiveness and efficiency of the public transport and rail policy for the 2013-2017 period. Although partial results have already been recorded on many separate components, Berenschot is making several recommendations to improve the measurability of results.
At the Flying Money conference in Amsterdam on May 24th, Berenschot facilitated a workshop on the legal and financial possibilities to create and effectively govern an ‘anti-organised crime fund’. In many countries, including the Netherlands, very little needs to change from a legal perspective to make such a fund possible. What is required is the political will and sense of urgency for this type of initiative to succeed.
At the start of this month, the morning paper ‘Nederlands Dagblad’ dedicated an article to the rise of 3D printing. This new technology can have major consequences for the Netherlands’ role as an import and transit country. In the article, Onno Ponfoort, Berenschot Consultant and specialised in 3D printing, gives his vision on this development.
The Strategic Business Plan (SBP) Awards were presented on 28 September. Four teams presented their business plan to a jury, which was followed by the announcement of the big winners.
