National water shortage crisis organisation successful

Published on 26 April 2019

The national water distribution and drought crisis organisation cooperated well and operated successfully last year. Yet, there is room for improvement, for instance with respect to information management, involving social organisations and coordination among the various crisis columns. These are the most important conclusions from the process evaluation conducted by Berenschot in partnership with Arcadis.

Berenschot and Arcadis were contracted by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management to examine the crisis management during the 2018 water shortage. The process evaluation included the establishment of an extensive fact file, a survey among the involved parties, conducting interviews and organising regional interactive meetings. The report (dutch) was presented to the Dutch Lower House on 25 April 2019.
