Smart Energy Collective: development of a thermal smart grid project

The Smart Energy Collective, a consortium of 30 partners, is created to improve Dutch development of smart grids by open innovation. In this project a demonstrator was set up, which prove the different developed smart grid concepts and will be the foundation for the partners’ commercial projects.

5 different locations with all smart grid concepts, which differ in application, will be developed: industrial, utilities, all-electric residential area, combined gas/electric residential area and a residential area with district heating smart grid. After designing, realization and testing, the evaluation is very important for all partners, since these lessons learned are input for future commercial projects. Berenschots’ support was mainly focused on maintaining shared understanding and commitment of all partners and stakeholders. Additionally, the development plan was created by Berenschot and additional funding for this operation was requested.
