The ORET/MILIEV Grant Programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs supports companies that want to be active in developing countries. In the context of this programme, the Dutch government supplies grants for the export of capital goods, services or works to developing countries. The objective of the MILIEV component of the programme is to ensure that projects have a positive impact on the environment.

Meaf Machines specialises in thermoforming machines for manufacturing plastic sheets and cups. These products are primarily used in the dairy sector, for example for yoghurt. Meaf was approached by Al Haram from the Palestine Authority, a company that manufactures plastic jerry cans and that has good contacts with the local dairy sector.

University evaluated the € 23 million SAADA programme over the period 2006-2009, implemented by IFDC. The programme aims to increase the productivity and income of 1 million farmers in West-Africa though value chain upgrading strategies.

The SNV regional office for West Africa in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, coordinates operations of the development organisation in Benin, Burkina Faso, DRC, Cameroon, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger. Following the development of a new multi annual strategy, SNV West Africa wanted to strengthen the entrepreneurial attitude of the organisation.

In the summer of 2009, Berenschot carried out an assessment project for Trespa's German sales organisation. Trespa International BV is a global market leader in the development, manufacture and supply of high quality panels for decorative façade claddings and interior surfaces. In order to obtain insight into the potential, all the personnel and management of the German branch underwent an assessment.

TNT has been working together with Bio Energy Resources Ltd. in Malawi since 2008 to develop the infrastructure required for converting and processing jatropha into a biofuel. The work is carried out by the Moving the World Foundation, whose goal is to fight hunger and poverty. After making arrangements with farmers concerning the sustainable planting of jatropha, TNT sought additional financing for the further development of the value chain and the processing of jatropha into biofuel for use by rural households. Berenschot was asked to develop a project proposal within the guidelines of the Daey Ouwens Fund: a grant scheme aimed at providing people in the least developed countries with access to sustainable energy.

A Dutch electronics firm was keen to develop new activities in West Africa. The client needed financing and an African partner for the project concerned. Because company interests as well as development goals were involved, Berenschot decided to contact a Dutch development organisation operating in the relevant African countries.
