Every manager knows what it's really all about: not the amazing idea, but the quality of the implementation. Organisation management is about setting a course and keeping to it, wanting and doing, strategy and performance indicators.
The EFQM model and the balanced scorecard have become valued partners for managers wishing to improve their organisation and management. But there's more. Based on research in companies like Ericsson, Oce, ABB, Nokia, Volvo, Bosch and SGS-Thomson, the authors show that management is mainly a question of creating and disrupting balance. The managers of these companies are effective because they break through the paradoxes that management practice involves. They do so with interventions which are as simple as they are effective: setting a course, translating, coordinating and learning.
In this book, the research results are translated in an implementation approach. In addition, the findings are translated in a questionnaire which can be used to determine the quality of the organisation management and the interventions that can be used to improve the organisation and management style.
