These days, more and more companies are falling into the Commodity Trap: competing purely and solely on price. Commodities are products that are indistinguishable from each other, which leaves the client nothing to choose between except price. Focusing only on economy and volume leads to price erosion and produces standard products with no distinguishing elements or features.
