International Finance Corporation (IFC)
We are pleased to announce that Berenschot collaborates with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to support the effective promotion of IFC’s capabilities as financier for Netherlands’ corporates investing in emerging markets.
IFC, member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution. The corporation was established in 1956 with the aim to advance economic development through investments in profitable and commercial projects in low and middle income countries. IFC offers, besides investments, advisory, and asset management to clients. The products of IFC are designed such that they meet the needs of the clients in different industries, with a focus on infrastructure, manufacturing, agribusiness, services, and financial markets. IFC financing ideally starts from € 10 million per project which corresponds to approximately 30% of the total investment value.
The Paris Office of IFC’s Western Europe Department (CWE) is responsible for the origination and generation of new business opportunities for the IFC at large. CWE’s core mandates in Western Europe are:
- Business development and relationship management with companies and banks based in Western Europe and Israel that invest in emerging markets.
- Coordination and partnership building with the European Union (EU), international organisations, development finance institutions, business associations, governments, media, and civil society organisations.
Last year, IFC committed more than $ 2 billion to projects with Western European companies and banks in developing and emerging countries. Investments covered 49 projects in 25 countries, including five regional and five global projects.
