Consultant business development EU

Berenschot is looking for an enthusiastic consultant for our new EU team. Do you have proven experience and connections in the EU arena? And do you want to rise to the challenge of boosting Berenschot’s EU reputation and creating a market in Brussels and for the EU proposition in the Netherlands? Then this might be a job that fits you!

Where will you work?

Berenschot’s new EU programme team, which will be operational as from 1 September, comprises 12 highly educated, energetic and hardworking professionals, who are active in various specialist areas throughout Berenschot. We provide clients with strategic European advice and training on EU influence and help them evaluate European policy at all levels. We are also currently developing an EU impact scan for organisations in the Netherlands. Berenschot EU primarily focuses on current developments in Brussels (Brexit, Energy Union, new European Commission, etc.) and we work directly with the institutions of the European Union and other organisations in Brussels. As such, the main challenge of this role is to further strengthen and consolidate our Brussels network.

Berenschot operates at all levels (national, provincial, regional and municipal) of the Dutch public administration sector and plans to offer its expertise to the EU through this new EU team. In Brussels, we are establishing ourselves as experts in the following core themes and competences:

What will you do?

You will be working at the heart of the EU team. Using your existing network, you will ensure that Berenschot has access to the Brussels arena, to the institutions and to organisations that focus on the EU. You will participate in advisory and research projects that have a European dimension. In addition, you will help to forge international consortia in order to be able to participate in tenders. You will also work on publications to raise Berenschot EU’s profile, with the aim of building Berenschot’s EU reputation and creating a market in Brussels and for the EU proposition in the Netherlands.

In addition, you will collaborate with other colleagues who occasionally carry out European projects. Berenschot’s strength lies in the fact that, depending on the issue, we can combine sector-specific knowledge with strategic, public administration, financial and legal expertise in a multidisciplinary team. The projects are often of a political-administrative nature, requiring both substantive knowledge and process-related skills. We work from our office locations in Utrecht and Brussels (near Place Luxembourg).

Your profile

You are able to work and think at an academic level and have three to six years of work experience, including experience in European tender procedures. You have proven experience and contacts in the EU arena and your verbal and written command of the English language is excellent. Good knowledge of the French language is an advantage. You have strong communication skills and put the client first. You are also able to work on assignments independently, you have a flair for social processes and you keep abreast of developments in the government sector and the administrative processes within it. You are able to acquire contracts independently. In addition, you are enthusiastic, have a sharp analytical mind, are decisive, curious and good at working with others. Moreover, you are flexible, you can switch quickly between different situations and you are motivated to learn and to continuously improve yourself. You proactively come up with ideas and opportunities to generate new business for Berenschot EU. You preferably live in Brussels.
