Management op het grensvlak van publiek en privaat (Managing the Interface between the Public and Private Sectors)

Management op het grensvlak van publiek en privaat

Description

Projects in which public and private parties collaborate for the purpose of realising innovative forms of multiple-use spaces are without exception complex. This is due to a number of factors, including the involvement of many different parties, the fact that decisions consistently touch on a great many values, such as the environment, the economy and the quality of life and also because there seldom is agreement about what the project is exactly to accomplish.

Consequently the managers responsible for such projects are regularly faced with choices that could be characterised as dilemmas. For example, should the manager open up the decision-making process and involve new parties in order to increase support for decisions or should he do exactly the opposite and keep the decision-making process relatively closed so as to advance more rapidly?

This book reports on research conducted among managers who were questioned about the way they dealt with this type of dilemma in the management of complex spatial projects.
The book extensively reports on the decisions made by managers in the realisation of such projects and thus creates an animated overview of the practices hidden behind public-private partnerships.  Furthermore, the book searches for an answer to the question as to which decisions have the potential for contributing to a positive expectation in terms of the substantive and process-oriented outcomes of complex spatial projects.
